Consulting · one-on-one with Dan

SEO consultation, one hour at a time.

I'm Dan Shuttleworth. I grew a content site that Cloudways went on to publish as a customer case study, I've handled SEO, builds and hosting for agency clients for years, and 17K+ people follow what I post about it on X. Book an hour and we spend every minute of it on your site and the decision you're stuck on.

01Why take my advice

Receipts, not adjectives.

Each figure below links to where it was published, so you can check it before you spend a cent. I'd rather be verified than believed.

02Who it's for

For people who want a straight answer about their own site

  1. 01

    Content and niche site builders

You're publishing and the graph won't move, or it moved and then fell off a cliff. I started my first site beside a day job, so I know when a site needs more articles and when it needs fewer, better ones.

  2. 02

    SaaS and indie founders

The product works; nobody is finding it. We'll map the searches your buyers actually type and the few pages that would meet them, before you sink months into a blog nobody reads.

  3. 03

    Agency owners and freelancers

A second pair of eyes on an audit before it reaches the client, or a gut check on a strategy you're about to pitch. Bring the draft and we'll go through it line by line.

  4. 04

    Local business owners

A competitor shows up on the map and you don't, or the site gets visits while the phone stays quiet. Local SEO is everyday work at Grizzly Agency, so we can get specific fast.

  5. 05

    In-house marketers

You own SEO at your company and have nobody to argue with about it. Bring the roadmap, the migration plan or the report your boss doesn't believe, and we'll pressure-test it.

03What we can cover

Bring the problem, not a polished brief

  • 01

    SEO strategy and audits

What to fix first, what to leave alone, and what is really holding rankings back. Share your screen with Search Console open and we'll read it together.

  • 02

    Content sites and Google updates

Topic selection, internal linking, pruning, and telling a site-wide quality problem from a handful of weak pages after an update. Honest odds, no recovery promises.

  • 03

Architecture, Core Web Vitals and hosting

Structure, page speed, and whether your host is the bottleneck. My sites have consistently passed Core Web Vitals, and I've moved between enough hosts to know what a migration fixes and what it doesn't.

  • 04

    AI automation

Where automation saves real hours in a content or marketing workflow, where it quietly produces junk, and how to keep a person signing off on what gets published.

  • 05

Local SEO and websites that convert

Google Business Profile, service and location pages, reviews, and the stretch between someone landing on your site and picking up the phone.

  • 06

    Growing an audience on X

What I've learned reaching 17K+ followers by writing about my own work: what to post, how to keep going, and how an audience can feed a business instead of distracting from it.

04How it works

From request to call in four steps

  1. 01

Tell me what's on your plate

Use the form below: your site, what you want to cover, and times that suit you. The sharper the question, the further we get.

  2. 02

    We agree a time

I'm in Sylvan Lake, Alberta, on Mountain Time. I'll reply by email to set an hour that works on both our clocks.

  3. 03

    Have things open and ready

Your site, Search Console, analytics, whatever we're looking at. You share your screen, so you never hand over a password.

  4. 04

    Spend the hour on it

Just us, on video, working through your list in the order that matters most.

05What you're paying for

US$150 per hour. Here's exactly what that buys.

  • A full hour

Sixty minutes on your questions, in whatever order you need them.

  • Me, not a stand-in

One-on-one with me. No account manager, no sales rep, no junior stepping in.

  • Over video, from anywhere

Your location doesn't matter, and we can both look at the real thing on screen.

  • About your site, specifically

Your pages, your data, your market. Generic SEO advice is free everywhere; this part isn't.

06When this isn't the right fit

Better to say it here than after you've paid

  • Not a fit if

You want the work done for you

A consultation is advice, not labour. If you need a website built or SEO handled month to month, that's what Grizzly Agency is for.

  • Not a fit if

    You want a ranking guarantee

I won't promise positions or traffic, and I'd be wary of anyone who does. Google decides rankings; I can tell you what I'd do in your shoes and why.

  • Not a fit if

    You're scoping an agency project

Thinking about hiring Grizzly Agency to build or market your site? Start with the free discovery call instead. This hour is paid advice, not a project scoping session.

07Questions

Before you book

How much does a consultation cost?

US$150 per hour, in US dollars, for one hour, one-on-one with me, on a video call.

Why is it priced in US dollars if you're in Canada?

Consulting is open to anyone, anywhere, so it has one rate in one currency: US$150 whether you're in Red Deer or Rotterdam. Grizzly Agency's website builds are quoted separately, in Canadian dollars.

Is this the same as the free discovery call?

No. The discovery call is a free conversation about hiring Grizzly Agency for a project. A consultation is a paid hour of my advice on your own site or plans, whether or not you ever work with the agency.

Can you do the work after we talk?

That's a separate conversation, best had on a discovery call. Agency work gets a fixed quote before anything starts, and booking an hour with me doesn't commit you to anything beyond the hour.

Do you guarantee results?

No. You get my honest read and what I'd do next in your position. What happens after depends on the work, your market and Google.

Do I need to be in Alberta, or even in Canada?

No. It's a video call, so where you are doesn't matter. Put your timezone and good windows in the form and we'll find an overlap.

What should I have ready?

Your URL, the one or two questions that matter most, and be signed in to anything we'll look at, like Search Console or analytics, so you can share your screen.

Who am I actually talking to?

Me, Dan Shuttleworth. I founded Niche Lion and Grizzly Agency, grew the content site in that Cloudways case study, and have hosted the Friday Rumble, a weekly X Space for people in the niche-site and SEO world.

Bring the question you keep putting off.

One hour, US$150 per hour, just you and me on video. Tell me what's on your mind and I'll come back to you to set a time.
